Conductor Danny Repole Swing Band appeared July 21st for the Hot Summer Nights Series of free concerts which are every Saturday night in July at 8pm at Kingsborough Community College. As conductor Danny Repole was concluding to go to the intermission as he feinted on stage. Luckily his son was there and is a doctor. A staff member for the band said he was fine and he may not have eaten enough for the concert. He was able to continue after the intermission.
89 year old Repole played with many big bands including Guy Lombardo’s Royal Canadians. The swing music from the 1940’s was well applauded by the large crowd mainly of senior citizens. There were a few WW2 veterans. The dance floor was full and the best numbers were Begin the Beguine, In the Mood, Sing Sing Sing and Let’s Dance. This week is the last concert called Postcards from Gypsyland with songs like All of Me and Body and Soul.
