Bike Expo New York at Pier 36 till May 6, The latest cycling gear, get free stuff, enjoy live entertainment and take biking classes—all for free. This is also the place where TD Five Boro Bike Tour participants pick up their packets. Sunday, TD Five Boro Bike Tour, starting near Battery Park. Some 32,000 cyclists pedal their way through all five boroughs on a traffic-free 40-mile course. The event is a tour, not a race (the vibe is relaxed and fun). General registration has already ended, but you can still join in as a VIP or ride for a charity. Frieze Art Fair: The first NYC version of the London art fair begins on May 4.Approximately 180 galleries from all over the world are taking part. The event will take place inside a structure custom designed for the fair by architecture/design firm SO – IL; expect art-world celebrities, regular-world celebrities and plenty of attendant art-action citywide during the first week in May. Rocket Thrower Family Festival: Saturday, 11a.m.–3p.m. This event repeats every day between 5/5/2012 and 5/6/2012. A family weekend festival to celebrate the Rocket Thrower sculpture with space-themed arts-and-crafts projects, “rocket throwing” contests, and music. On Saturday, May 5, The Queens Museum of Art is sponsoring a large collaborative community art making project. On Sunday May 6 at noon, join tour guide John Kriskiewicz to explore The Rocket Thrower: Robert Moses, The 1964/65 World’s Fair, and Art in the Space Age. Meet at the Unisphere (in Flushing Meadows Corona Park), Queens. Tandem Biking for Adults: Saturday, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. The two-seater bikes will be provided. Bring your own helmet recommended, but a limited number will be available. The staff will accommodate people in pairs or alone. Free use of bike.
