Asian Studies has been  a minor since the Spring 06 semester.  This work was started by Loretta Chin and Melanie Bush back in 1999 as a part of the Community Building Initiative/Asian Outreach Project in the Student Life office.  In 2003, the Asian Studies Task Provost Matthews and requested that the the college establish an Asian Studies Studies Program at Brooklyn College.  They submitted a list a faculty names for consideration to the task force and this group has been actively working to this day towards the estalishment of an asian Studies Programm at Brooklyn College.

The colege had a middle States Re-Accreditation Town Hall Meeting for Faculty and Staff on December 2 where research Coordinator Chin, who now works in Children’s studies, presented  a statement about Asian Studies at Brooklyn College.  The program is in need of staffing, funding, space and to be listed in the Schedule of Classes.
